DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

In our commitment to support the academic, social and emotional success of all of our students, P.S. 116 offers various options for our diverse community of learners. In addition to rigorous general education programs, as well as our multiple academic intervention services, P.S. 116 has supports in place for students with special needs.

The School Assessment Team coordinates related services for our students who may require counseling, occupational therapy, speech, SETSS (special education teacher support services), and/or physical therapy. All intervention teachers and related service providers work closely with classroom teachers to help address our students' areas of need.

We also offer Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classes on every grade, K-5: a positive experience where all children benefit from differentiated instruction and individualized attention provided by 2 certified teachers (1 general education-certified, 1 special education-certified). It is our hope that all children, at some point in their lives as a student, will have multiple opportunities to be a part of an Integrated Co-Teaching community!
